EU Affairs Manager (m/f/d)

Responsibilities & Qualifications

What awaits you:

 

As EU Affairs Manager in the Novelis Europe Government Affairs department, you will report directly to the Director Government Affairs, Novelis Europe. In this position, you will work to influence EU legislation, regulation and policy debates to secure benefits and minimize risks to our business, create and cultivate a network with relevant policy-makers in Brussels and Strasbourg, and represent Novelis’ business and policy interests in meetings with policymakers, external advocacy groups and industry representatives, in collaboration with Novelis Europe executives and subject matter experts. The tasks in detail:

 

  • Drive implementation of Novelis’ government affairs strategy with focus on EU affairs and develop positions and policy requests in alignment with business stakeholders in regards to the business interests
  • Create and cultivate a network with EU stakeholders and target public policy outcomes aligned with our corporate strategy, and work to influence legislation, regulation and policy debates to enable a decarbonized and circular economy, secure benefits and minimize risks to our business in Europe
  • Expand Novelis outreach to and engagement with strategic political stakeholders and government officials, including legislators, regulatory agencies, public bodies, associations and institutions in Brussels and Strasbourg
  • Provide EU intelligence and monitor and report policy and regulatory developments of EU policy issues of importance to Novelis, including circular economy, climate and trade, working collaboratively with internal and external subject matter experts and Novelis Europe Government Affairs team.
  • Participate and represent Novelis’ interests in relevant industry associations in partnership with Novelis Europe Government Affairs team and business representatives/ technical experts
  • Support internal and external communications on relevant policy issues and related Government Affairs’ activities by developing messaging on relevant policy issues for internal and external audiences and drafting briefings, position papers and speeches

  

How you convince us:

  • Higher education and advanced degree in public policy, political science, law or related disciplines
  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience in public policy, legislative affairs, lobbying or applicable areas.
  • Strong network of contacts in Brussels. Demonstrated interest and working knowledge in policy issues such as circular economy, climate and trade and the political process
  • Strategic mindset and demonstrated success in proactively building and working collaboratively with strategic alliances, coalitions, trade groups, etc.
  • Extremely proactive, collaborative, organized, detail-oriented, with an ability to juggle multiple issues and activities simultaneously in a highly professional manner
  • Highly engaging and self-motivated, responsive, results-oriented with proven ability to deliver results within tight timeframes and to work independently as well as within a team
  • Effective communication skills, and in particular strong relationship management capabilities are your strengths
  • Verbal and written fluency required in English. French, German or Italian is a plus
